Discipleadership

Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ. (1 Corinthians 11.1)

“Be imitators of me” is spiritual leadership. “As I am of Christ” is discipleship. Spiritual leaders are first and foremost disciples of Jesus. They lead only so far as they are being led by Christ.

Discipleadership (discipleship-leadership) is a way we lead the life of faith as followers of Jesus who bring the fragrance of Christ in the sphere of their influence. It is about how to be rather than how to do.

It begins with the Holy Triune God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. A journey to know God is the foundation of discipleadership. Experiencing who God is and embracing what Jesus has done for us, we discover who we truly are in Christ. Our true identity in Christ gives us the meaning of our very existence. Our relationship with God reveals our mission in life. Our mission gives us our unique voice in the Grand Story of God and in His community. We not only belong to a community of Christ but also engage God’s mission with this community. We define Christian fellowship as this Christ-centered community on God’s mission.

Discipleadership Training

Discipleadership training is being offered to churches in various formats. While it is highly customizable, the complete sequence includes the following three levels of mastery.

  1. Shu is the foundational level with the seven components of discipleadership.
  2. Ha is the intermediate level with the eight components of transformation.
  3. Ri is the advanced level.

The training is available in the U.S. and Japan. Currently, a version of it is being used in churches in Ethiopia. For more information, please contact us at train[at]acts8.org.

Antioch Fellowship

Jesus lived with His twelve disciples. Our hearts long for a true fellowship, that is, a Christ-centered community on God’s mission.

Antioch Fellowship (AF) offers such a fellowship. It is a church-based cohort to learn and experience discipleadership in real time while impacting the city in which you live. The community lasts nine months and designed for adults between 18 and 25 years old.

Currently, Antioch Fellowship is available only in the Puget Sound region of Washington State. Please contact us for questions, details or how to start Antioch Fellowship in your area at antioch[at]acts8.org.
